In 2016, I graduated from the University of Bath with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. After spending a year working in social care and housing, I pursued my passion for issues related to mental health by enrolling on a MSc at King’s College London, in Mental Health, Ethics and Law. This training and my experiences working in the UK and Romania has developed my interest in the rights of those with intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities. In October 2018, I took up a 3 year PhD studentship funded by the Wellcome Trust. My project is part of the wider research initiative, Mental Health and Justice (https://mhj.org.uk), and is supervised by Dr Isabel Clare from the University of Cambridge and Dr Jillian Craigie from King’s College London. The research will span across law, policy and practice to explore how people with intellectual disabilities are supported to make legally significant decisions.
