ABC-DS is a study that uses lots of different methods to look at biomarkers of Alzheimer’s disease (processes inside the body which may help us to see whether someone has Alzheimer’s) in people with Down’s syndrome.
These methods include brain scans (MRI and PET), blood draws, neuropsychological testing (quizzes and puzzles), and optionally, a lumbar puncture to look at cerebrospinal fluid.
If you decide to take part in the study, we would invite you to Cambridge 4 times over the next 5 years (roughly every 16 months) for 2 or 3 days.
We would pay for you to stay in a hotel in Cambridge and would pay for your food and travel costs.
If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact Shemaya Hurd-Thomas via email at: slh203@medschl.cam.ac.uk
