The purpose of the ‘Clinical and Research Database for Persistent Schizophrenia’ is to store and analyze two types of collected data: clinical data (e.g. symptoms) from service users of the Clozapine Clinic and research data (e.g. dietary habit) from those service users that are currently participating and/or have previously participated in research studies investigated by the team. It is anticipated that this will allow for:
- Monitoring and improvement of the quality of service patients of the Clozapine Clinic receive (such as how well Clozapine works to reduce symptoms and improve mental health).
- Gathering long-term information about the effects of persistent schizophrenia in order to better understand its causes and outcomes.
- Guiding and conducting further research such as investigation of the relationship between persistent schizophrenia and diet, smoking, etc.
– REC approval: 13/EE/0121
