The IC-ADAPT Consortium was created to advance ongoing research, development and testing of the IC-ADAPT framework and interventions. Integrating two interdisciplinary, evidence-based models, the ecosocial IC-ADAPT model is applicable across the lifecycle and has validity across cultures and contexts.
‘IC Sverige’ is an experiential intervention for the Swedish context to increase resilience and cognitive and social flexibility in response to opposition and adversity (original design by Eolene Boyd-MacMillan, Amanda Ptolomey, and Laura Mathieson, 2015, 2016, 2017). Now also an instantiation of the IC-ADAPT model, the IC Sverige pilot study with waiting list control groups and follow-up measures is led by Umeå University in three contexts: schools with 16-19 yr. olds; community centres with 18-25 yr. olds; NGOs, with staff aged 25+ working with young people. (De Marinis, V, Nordendahl, M, Arnetz, B, Arnetz, J, Sandlund, M, Näslund, U, Boyd-MacMillan, E. (2018). Research Plan Report for the Pilot Study on Integrative Complexity (IC) Thinking in Sweden: a health promotion course/intervention for countering extremism for youth and young adults. Umeå University, Department of Public Health and Clinical Medicine. Umeå: Regional Ethics Committee 2018-report number 463-31).
The IC-ADAPT model is being instantiated in a pilot intervention for feasibility testing as part of a multi-disciplinary EU-funded H2020 DRIVE project spanning four countries.
A study exploring resilience and resistance among frontline healthcare workers in Australia, UK and USA during the COVID-19 and variant pandemic will use the IC-ADAPT model as an analytical framework for in-depth case studies.
Consortium members are collaborating on research focusing on various aspects of climate change.
