Psychiatry

Last Thursday, the Department of Psychiatry was delighted to welcome our newest cohort of postgraduate students at the 2025 induction event.

This year, we’re thrilled to have around 50 new students joining us — including 30 MPhil, 10 PhD, and 10 Research MPhil candidates — each bringing unique perspectives, backgrounds, and passions for advancing mental health research and clinical science.

The induction day offered a chance for our new students to meet academic staff, connect with peers, and learn more about the department’s world-class research environment and support networks. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and curiosity as students began their journey into the diverse and dynamic field of psychiatric research.

Throughout the day, introductions and presentations highlighted the department’s broad research themes — from neuroscience and psychology to clinical and social psychiatry — as well as opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the University.

We extend a warm welcome to all our new postgraduate students. We look forward to seeing the exciting contributions you’ll make to the department and to the wider mental health research community in the years ahead.

Welcome once again to the Department of Psychiatry — we’re delighted to have you with us!
